Meet our Instructors

David McCaslin – Band Director

Mr. McCaslin has been an active music teacher and band director since 1975. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education at Northeastern Oklahoma State University in Tahlequah, OK.  He did graduate work at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, OK where he was the assistant director for two years.

His experience includes all grade levels from kindergarten through university.  He began his teaching career in Oklahoma and came to California in 1987.  He has taught marching band, concert band, jazz band, orchestra, piano, guitar, vocal and classroom music.  Mr. McCaslin joined Highland High School’s Instrumental Music Program in 2009.

Brian Almiron - Assistant Band Director

Brian has been involved with music programs since the 4th grade playing Alto Saxophone and was a member of the Highland Music program in high school playing Baritone Saxophone, marched in the tenor line, was drumline captain and Drum Major.

Brian has performed with Antelope Valley College Marching Marauders (Baritone Saxophone and Marching Percussion), California State University at Northridge, Marching Percussion Ensemble (Front Ensemble), West Coast Sound Drum and Bugle Corps (Bassline), Royal Cavaliers Performing Arts (Percussion Caption Head and Aux Percussion), Antelope Valley College Symphonic Band (Tenor & Baritone Saxophone), Cirque Berzerk (Percussion), West Coast Classical's Wind Ensemble (Baritone Saxophone) and has been part of Percussion and Visual staffs since 1998.

During the day, Brian works as a Pediatric Medical Assistant in Canyon Country.

George Jackson III – Percussion Instructor

George started playing music at the age of 9 and picked up a pair of mallets his freshman year of high school. He graduated from Lancaster High School where he spent all 4 years as a member of the front ensemble and was the Percussion Section Leader. While in high school, George also performed with the Highland High School Indoor Percussion Ensemble his junior and senior year, was a member of the Royal Cavaliers Performing Arts, the Pacific Crest Drum and Bugle Corps and Dark Sky Percussion

George is currently continuing his General Education at College of the      Canyons in Valencia.

Chase Kross - Battery Instructor

Chase graduated from Highland High School where he spent all 4 years as a member of the percussion section and section leader. After high school Chase went on to perform with the Pacific Crest Drum and Bugle Corps, 2019 Rose Parade, Riverside City College Indoor Percussion and Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps. Chase is currently continuing his General Education at Antelope Valley College

Bailey Hooper - Color Guard Instructor 
Bailey graduated from Lancaster High School where she was a member of the color guard and section leader, has performed with the Pacific Crest Drum & Bugle Corps, and the 2019 Rose Parade. Bailey is currently continuing her education at Antelope Valley College.
